You are in the red group. Just a heads up–I only know this because I live in Utah and know the geography. For those of you who live elsewhere, I can’t confirm it for you.
I live in st. george utah …. what is my color???
I am a greenie…
thank you !!!1
If you’re in California, your frost date might fall BEFORE the color groups. I am working on coming up with a system for folks like you. It may not roll out until fall, or at the latest next spring.
Can you tell me what color I am? We live in Glendale, CA. I’m still confused.
Judy–I wish I could tell you! But frost dates are not organized by zip code. You really need to go to the color page and follow the instructions. I just added a screencast to help walk you through the process.
Depending on where you live, your frost dates may not be listed in my chart. I am working on a solution for those who have earlier frost dates.
Live in Sunnyvale, CA – I think red is right for us – any way to verify?
Mitzi–I can answer this because my family lives down there! You are outside of my color planting schedule–by about a month. The trick is, Las Vegas gets so hot in the summer, but you can grow almost all winter long. My book is really for a spring-summer-fall planting schedule.
The dates I offer might work for you and others who live in warmer climates, but really have a spring-summer and a fall-winter season. I am very aware of your needs, and it’s on my list of things to research and write about. But honestly, I can’t speak from experience, only from my research. I encourage you to contact your local extension service (www.extension.org) for a recommended planting schedule.
Hi. Just found your website. I want to sign up for your newsletter but I am confused as to what color Las Vegas Nevada would be. We are getting warm weather now. I have transplanted a lot of things outside. Please let me know what color you would suggest. Mitzi
I live in Fairfield , CA. that is the Northren part. I live in Northren CA inland area with some ocean influence, summer days are hot between 90 to 103F & winter days between 40 to 50 F.
After reading where you are all from I’m not sure I picked the right color. Does any of that sound like wear any of you live?
Cheron–That’s right!
I am not sure. I am in the Porltand area and think I am in the red group. Does that sound right?
Courtney–I’m working on some hotter climate schedules for those who live in Florida, Arizona, Nevada. Keep your eyes peeled!
My date was not in any of the colors but I picked red because it was the closest. We live about 15 miles east (inland) of Fort Myers, Florida.
Hopefully I have picked the correct color. Thanks. I am in Austin Texas, Zone B. Looks like last frost is March 31st.
Awesome site! We are just beginning. This will be a wonderful reference. Thanks
